1. Conditions of Participation

1.1. The aim of the race is to travel as far away from the starting point as possible within a specified time period (see race registration) and then return. The direction of travel and the turnaround point (Point of Return) are determined individually by each participant.

1.2. The winner is the person whose recorded GPS point is the greatest straight-line distance (in meters) from the starting point in Münster.

1.3. The reached location must additionally be verified by a GPS point (e.g. Google Maps or another GPS-enabled device) and a photo. The photo must show the participant together with a distinctive structure (e.g. gas station, street sign, supermarket) at the recorded GPS point.

1.4. All participants are required to carry the GPS tracker provided by the organizer during the race.

2. Route and Means of Movement

2.1. The entire route must be covered under the participant’s own power, without motorized assistance. Ferries, cars, trains, or other means of transport are expressly prohibited.

2.2. All participants are responsible for their own movement, safety, and supplies.

2.3. External assistance is only permitted if it is publicly accessible and equally available to all participants (e.g. public water points, shops, supermarkets).

2.4. Support vehicles are prohibited.

2.5. Pre-planned external support from family, friends, or teams is not permitted. Assistance may only come from publicly accessible sources.

3. Participation and Competition Rules

3.1. All participants must carry their own food, equipment, and tools or obtain them along the way.

3.2. Participation is possible in the individual ranking or as part of a team.

3.3. Participants are responsible for self-navigation of the route, either by GPS, maps, or other aids.

3.4. Overnight stays in accommodation along the route are permitted. The duration of the stay may be chosen by the participant.

3.5. All participants must comply with the traffic regulations of the respective country or region.

3.6. All participants take part at their own risk and are required to use functioning lights and safety equipment (including a helmet).

3.7. In bad weather or dangerous conditions, the participant decides independently how to proceed with the race.

3.8. Participants who arrive back at the starting point after the specified race time has expired (4:01 p.m.) will be disqualified (regardless of the distance covered).

3.9. The race management is available by phone for consultation in cases of uncertainty or dangerous conditions.

3.10. Participants undertake to behave fairly towards other participants and to treat the environment with respect. Violations of the principles of fairness and consideration may result in disqualification.

3.11. The organizers reserve the right to exclude participants from participation for good cause (e.g. repeated rule violations, unsportsmanlike conduct, deception), including during the race.

3.12. In the event that a participant chooses to withdraw from the race, the race management must be informed immediately.

4. Disclaimer of Liability and Risk Management

4.1. By participating in the event, participants accept that the organizer assumes no liability for damages arising from participation in the race.

4.2. Participants act on their own responsibility and release the organizers and the initiators of the race from any liability.

4.3. By registering via the registration form, participants agree to unconditionally release the initiators from any liability.

5. Registration and Participation Fee/Refund

5.1. To participate in the event, participants must complete a registration form, accept the Privacy Policy and the General Terms and Conditions, and pay the registration fee set by the organizer.

5.2. The participation fee is fully refundable up to 60 days before the start of the race. From the 59th day before the start of the race, no refund is possible.

5.3. However, the starting place may be transferred to another person by the participant before the start of the race. In this case, the race management must be notified by email no later than one day before the start of the race. (pointofreturn@posteo.de)

5.4. If participation in the race is not possible due to an unforeseeable and proven event beyond the participant’s control (e.g. illness, serious accident, or personal emergency), there is no entitlement to a refund of the participation fee. However, the ticket may be transferred to another person as described in Section 5.3.

5.5. The refund policy applies exclusively to the amount paid for registration and not to any additional costs incurred in connection with participation in the event (e.g. travel, accommodation, equipment).

5.6. Participants must be of legal age.

6. Publication of Results and Images

6.1. By participating in the event, participants agree that their name, results, and image material created as part of the event may be published by the organizer.

6.2. This publication may take place on the race website, on social media, and in other public channels (see Privacy Policy).

7. Data Protection

7.1. The organizer undertakes to handle participants’ personal data in accordance with applicable data protection legislation and to use it only within the scope of the event. Further information on data protection can be found in the Privacy Policy on the website.

8. Changes and Amendments to the GTC

8.1. The organizer reserves the right to amend or change the GTC at any time. All changes will be communicated to participants in good time.

8.2. Should individual provisions of these GTC be or become invalid, the validity of the remaining provisions shall remain unaffected.

9. Final Provisions

9.1. The law of the Federal Republic of Germany shall apply.

9.2. The place of jurisdiction is the registered office of the organizer, insofar as legally permissible.

9.3. In the event of cancellation of the race due to force majeure, there is no entitlement to a refund of the participation fee. However, the organizer reserves the right to offer alternatives to cancellation, potentially including a refund after deduction of costs already incurred (e.g. for services already booked). However, a full refund of the participation fee is not guaranteed.

9.4. To the extent permitted by law, the organizer’s liability is limited to gross negligence or intentional conduct. The organizer assumes no liability for damages incurred by participants during the race, unless these are based on grossly negligent or intentional conduct by the organizer.

9.5. Should individual provisions of these GTC be or become invalid in whole or in part, the validity of the remaining provisions shall remain unaffected. In this case, the invalid provision shall be replaced by a valid provision that comes as close as possible to the economic purpose of the original regulation.

10. GPS Tracking and Technical Equipment

10.1. All participants are required to use the provided GPS tracker properly throughout the entire race.

10.2. The tracker must remain switched on at all times and may not be manipulated or deactivated.

10.3. In the event of technical problems with the GPS device, the race management must be informed immediately. Proof of the route via an alternative GPS-enabled device may be accepted in exceptional cases.

10.4. If the GPS tracker is lost by the participant, it must be fully replaced at the participant’s own expense.

10.5. By participating in the race, participants agree to share their exact position with the race management for the duration of the race.

10.6. If personal return of the tracker is not possible due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g. illness, accident), the tracker must be returned to the organizer immediately on the first working day after the race by tracked registered mail.

11. Medical Care and Safety 11.1. Participants are advised to carry basic medical supplies (e.g. bandages).

11.2. In medical emergencies, emergency services must be contacted first. The organizers are not obliged to provide medical care.

11.3. Participation requires sufficient physical health. Participants should seek medical advice before participating. The organizer assumes no liability for health problems that occur during or after the race. In the event of health problems during the race, participants are required to inform the race management immediately.

12. Conclusion of Contract and Acceptance of the GTC.

12.1. A binding contract between the participant and the organizer is concluded upon submission of the fully completed registration form and receipt of the participation fee by the organizer.

12.2. By registering, the participant confirms that he/she has fully read, understood, and accepted these GTC. The GTC form part of the contractual relationship.

12.3. The GTC apply in the version valid at the time of registration. Changes will be communicated to participants in good time.
